European Heritage Association, based in Zagreb is non-governmental, non-profit organisation, member of Europa Nostra, dedicated to promoting every aspect of professional excellence in heritage professions and doing it "by power of example". The Association is tiny and will grow only through its own programme and those who assist it. "The Best in Heritage" is our first and foremost activity, but we already established an outpost of our programme. The Best in Heritage Excellence Club, at EXPONATEC Fair, Koelnmesse. By definition we have confined ourselves to activities not covered by the professional associations and institutions. We are flexible, versatile and ambitious.
To count all our innumerable colleagues who honestly do their hard work would be impossible. I do hope that by this simple formula we use annually in Dubrovnik any professional perseverance and hard, innovative work will get more visibility and better estimation in the professional and wider community. We must work for our public visibility and our place in society's value system. The ways are many and to catch the public attention by the awarded excellence is one of them, - working quite well for our cause.

The 10th anniversary of an international conference must be a collective achievement. Though some people changed, institutions stayed in support as it can be seen at all our public presentations. The critical moment of the "take off" was made possible by Ms. Biserka Cvjetičanin, at that time Vice-minister of culture of Croatia (which provided the initial means) and Mr. Jacques Perot, president of ICOM (who provided the stamp of profession's consent). Among many, some who are still with us and others who changed positions, they remain crucial for our beginning.
The ten years of hard work and success were possible because numerous persons were motivated and kind to recognize its importance. Dona, Ana, Marija, Ivan, Katya, Andre, Ivana and Siniša were with us, each of them for some time with their precious contributions. Special thanks to Kruno Golubić, Željka Miklošević, Ida Marija Šola and Lela Njegovan Šola. Darko Babić was the longest time with the project and turned into an accomplished project manager. Some of them went their ways, some will occassionally join, some will return when the time comes. Without them and many others who supported us in different ways, nothing would have been possible.
