Aston Gibbs

Born in Perth, Western Australia in 1983, Aston holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) and Graduate Diploma of Modern Languages from the University of Western Australia. Her Masters degree in Cultural Heritage Studies was obtained at Curtin University of Technology.

Aston is an active participant  in museum and heritage programs both at local and international levels. She is a member of ICOM and is involved in committees and professional initiatives within Australia which focus on the continuous improvement of collection management practises, collection risk management and due diligence in collection documentation. She maintains an ongoing professional involvement with the European sector through her participation in a diverse range of initiatives, including language editing for museological publications and, most recently, through her role as an associate of the Best in Heritage annual conference in 2011.  

She continues to hold a management position in the department of Strategic Collection Management at Museum Victoria, Melbourne, and works to maintain the physical and intellectual values of the State collection.
