Presenters' instructions

The audience comes to Dubrovnik because of you and will trace your records attentively. We are all interested to understand the qualities that led to your wining the award or being chosen by the organisers for your qualities of innovation and creativity.

Try to follow these guidelines!

  2. What was the history of the project: rationale, objectives, aims?
  3. Who conceived the idea? Where the support came from? In what forms?
  4. What was professional and social philosophy of your project? Is your project relevant for the national    and community development? Does it help quality of living?
  5. What was the particular quality or innovation that deserved to be awarded?
  6. Do you consider your project being different from the others of the sort or better than them?
  7. How did your project work regarding human resources? Who was engaged and what were the experiences?
  8. What were the difficulties? Was anything easy?
  9. How would you do it next time?
  10. What are the experiences you would never repeat?
  11. How do you define professional excellence?
  12. Would you have any piece of advice for all who will enter some similar experience?

Please note:

Your presentation will make part of more than 130 hours of multimedia, highly interactive collection of the Excellence Club project presentations, at our web site and on DVD.

To stimulate quality of presentations and the attention of our participants we offer a prize for the best formal presentation. The winner, as voted by the audience present in Dubrovnik, is offered to present the project at The Best in Heritage Excellence Club, EXPONATEC fair (Cologne,Germany) at the invitation of Koelnmesse, comprising travel (any European destination), and board and lodging expenses.

The members of the professional press present in Dubrovnik decide separately upon the best presentation. The representative of the chosen project is offered a symbolic present from the City of Dubrovnik and Academia Cravatica (Zagreb).

What is expected from the presenters?

The audience comes to understand the excellence, - what it is and how to attain it. This is what your presentation should bring about. If your presentation is well articulated and concise it  is much appreciated. TRY NOT TO READ YOUR CONTRIBUTION, and use as much of visual material as you can. KEEP TO THE GUIDELINES as much as possible. Remember, please, that most of the participants use English as their second language. Therefore, speak the way they can grasp the meaning well.
Some of our presenters were very pleased to find that the presentation is done in a true theatre and profited creatively from the fact. The presentation takes 25 minutes including the five minutes of discussion where you would be assisted by the moderator. If you would like to grasp the atmosphere, please, go to the Photo Gallery and you will be well aware how it all works.

Should one come, indeed?

The fact that your project has received an award is an important achievement that deserves international exposure. Winning the award implies a great effort on the part of the staff and all the included professional expertise. There was also an effort expended in evaluating your achievement as it competed with others. We believe that this merits further public and professional attention. Your achievement should not and cannot be kept secret. Sharing it with others serves the profession, but also gives you the prestige and recognition that you rightfully deserve. It is good for your staff, your institution, your region and for your country. We intend to give your project wide attention in Dubrovnik, in the media and other publications, and on Internet with all the beneficial results that this may create. And, since there is no end to learning, you may also profit from the experiences of the other best or the most innovative projects as we present them. We witness, repeatedly, that our "network", connecting professionals world-wide, works very efficiently.

What equipment can one use?

Most presenters use power point as it has proven most efficient. Some use more traditional equipment, but all we would prefer, however, is to know your needs in advance.

Could it be an embarrassing experience?

Quite the contrary! The atmosphere of true neo-baroque theatre is relaxed and friendly. You can organise your presentation the way you want, use any technology and bring to the stage as many collaborators as you wish. There will be a moderator at every session who will care for the timing and will intervene to help you in any way necessary during your presentation. The occasion is, though relaxed, still very prestigious, as is Dubrovnik itself. Most of our patrons and partners send their high representatives. Your audience is a positive elite; it cherishes excellence and estimates highly your achievement.
