Museums Australia (Victoria) Award for Large Museums 2013 laureate
Australian Centre for Moving Image: "Game Masters", Victoria, Australia
History of videogames goes back to the 1960s and, by traditional concept of heritage, that barely rates a flicker on the timeline. As our technological, social and cultural evolution accelerate at an increased rate, we find ourselves looking with a profound sense of historicity at a commercial, cultural and artistic movement that has changed the world in 40 years. This is the kind of work done at The Australian Centre for the Moving Image, a museum that celebrates, explores and promotes the cultural and creative richness of the moving image in all its forms - film, tv, digital culture, and videogames.
Presentation is taking place on Friday, 26th September, 15.50 - 16.15
